Food at Warwick Hall is an important part of the pleasure. Fresh, original, locally grown - or caught - or laid - often from the garden - we love food.
We think you'll be able to tell the difference when we give you sausages made by our local butcher, Steve Wilson, or milk delivered from a nearby farm by Stephen Fleming. Life is too short for a poor breakfast. The bacon is local, eggs are new laid by happy hens and the fruit salad is being made while you're pulling on your socks.
At dinner you can expect to be pleasantly surprised - but the basics are the same: good Cumbrian food underpinning our greedy interest in all things culinary.
NB. Breakfast is included in the price of a night's accommodation, but dinner is by arrangement only. Let us know by mid-morning, so we can discuss the evening menu with you. Last minute diners can sometimes be included, but if not, we'll give you a long list of good pubs and restaurants near at hand.
We have a wonderful wine cellar full of sparkling, red, rose and white wine to suit each menu option. Please click on The Wine List to view our full wine selection.
Cuisine at Warwick Hall
Our cuisine comes into its own at large parties and family reunions. It's good enough - and sophisticated enough - to satisfy grown ups who love their food and expect to dine well, but it's not complicated. Little people, fussy eaters, and true blue British bulldogs will sit up to the table with pleasure. Who knows? They might even try something new!
Our wonderful cabbage is a case in point. We shred it very finely - cook it in a flash - and always make twice as much as you'd expect. It's a revelation to many guests who 'don't eat cabbage' and invariably they want another helping!
Choices and Menus
If you're planning a house party, we'll confer with you about your wish list, the likes and dislikes of the group and come up with a happy solution. We can easily add a vegetarian option that will have the carnivores looking across the table with envy, or a pasta dish for a child who really doesn't like anything else.
Special Needs Diets
We can manage gluten free diets, but can't offer to provide nut free, diabetic or vegan food. We suggest guests with special needs use the self catering kitchens even if they're not self catering, and bring their food to the table. That way, there's no question it's exactly right.
